The 5th East Asian Games will take place in Hong Kong, 5-13 December 2009. More than 3,000 athletes from nine countries and regions of East Asia will take part in over 1,700 competitions to vie for more than 250 gold medals in over 20 different sporting disciplines. REACH is proud to be appointed the official supplier of the satellite uplink distribution for the host channels for this major international multi-sport event, providing live coverage of Athletics, Aquatics, Badminton, Table-tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Cue Sports, Football, Rugby Sevens and Tennis, as well as the Opening and Closing ceremonies.
REACH will provide a digital uplink facility at the Stanley Earth Station in Hong Kong that is capable of uplinking multiple 8 Mbps MPEG2 digitally compressed video signals with their respective audio signals to AsiaSat-3S for reception at international destinations. The host channels will also be available for distribution locally in Hong Kong through the video switch facility at the REACH PoP in Telecom House in Wanchai, Hong Kong.
